The old diaries of Papua New Guinea
***************

This second week in Cameroon we continued our orientation and preparation for this schoolyear.

Tuesday we had a spiritual emphesis day. Where will you find a school where the team dances en swings (the African way!) to praise God at the start of a schoolyear?

Left Gilles explains what happens if you neglect prayer or biblestudy or care for your family or students etc. The house of your life will tumble down sooner or later!

Right an activity to get to know eachother better expressed in a living Bingo with all kinds of personal characteristics to figure out.

Above and left a refresh activity in between the offical program parts. We were divided in small groups and had to make a slingshot to hit a bottle with plantainslices and prepare a cooking place to frie chips of these plantains.

Right the official classroom to learn how to cook etc.

Life in Cameroon is quite different from PNG. In Cameroon we have poisonous snakes and the most beautifully colored birds for free in your garden. At night the birds are quiet here! By day I hear excellent singers among them.

Left: A really poisonous snake found in the bedroom of one of our students. He put it in a cage and brought it to the zoo. The zoo was happy with the snake and invited us to visit them. That is a great idea for our biology class!

This week school starts officially.
This sunday afternoon we have a potluck with parents and students as an informal acquaintance.

Left "Lambert" as security guard at the gate of our compound.

Right: Our compound... a square of apartments.
